We are cordially inviting you to participate in the “School on Acoustics: from Fundamentals to Frontiers” which will be held on 8-13 April 2024 in Qingdao, China (off-line format)

The school aims to create a collaborative environment for students and young researchers to acquire fundamental knowledge and practical skills in the field of fundamental and applied acoustics. The school includes lectures both on fundamentals of acoustics and on the latest achievements in acoustic metastructures and their real-world applications. The program will consist of lectures, practical classes with numerical and experimental tracks, hands-on workshops, and poster sessions, covering a wide range of topics such as:

  • Acoustic and elastic metamaterials and metasurfaces
  • Acoustic resonators and resonant states
  • Underwater acoustics
  • Underwater metamaterials
  • Waves in solids
  • Absorption of acoustic waves
  • Numerical acoustics
  • Art of acoustic experiment

The spring school is an excellent opportunity to network with peers and establish new collaborations with leading experts in the field of fundamental and modern acoustics.

Application


The registration fee is 450 euro and covers tuition, practical classes, social events, coffee-breaks, lunches, a conference dinner and accommodation on campus (see the detailed information in Accommodation). Selection of the School participants is made on the basis of the applicant’s CV and motivation letter. All participants are invited to present their research at the poster session.

The School is held in Qingdao (No.1777, Sansha Str., Huangdao Dist., Qingdao, 266555, P.R. China).


Accommodation

The School provides the participants with on-campus accommodation (shared rooms with facilities on the floor). If you would like to book a hotel by yourself, we recommend you to consider Qingdao West Coast Bluefin Hotel

Upon sending the results of the acceptance, we will ask you to fill in the form and indicate preferable type of accommodation and the dates of your arrival and departure.

Visa

A foreign citizen traveling to China should have a valid passport (expiry date should be no earlier than 6 months from the date of applying for a visa) and a visa.

Please note: the citizens of Belarus and Kazakhstan can stay in China without a visa for 30 days.

Steps to get the visa (type F):

  • Apply before 24 February and tick the option “I need a visa” in the application form.
  • Send the organizers (organisers@school-on-acoustics.com) your passport number, your full affiliation, first name and last name as in the passport. Each participant will receive a visa invitation letter, in printable format, via e-mail.
  • Make an appointment to submit your documents on the website http://avas.cs.mfa.gov.cn. Average waiting time for appointment is 1 month.
  • Apply for a visa. You must have a printed application form, an invitation, a passport and a copy of it with you. The average waiting time for a visa is 1 week.

Citizens of Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Malaysia are able to enter China without Visa, with the regular passport, to make business and tourist trips and visit relatives and friends for 15 days.
